I was inspired by Moda's Pure Baby Boy recipe from their bake shop. I loved the modern feel of the Pure Baby Boy quilt but since this is a quilt for a precious little girl I changed the color ways.
This crib sized quilt was machine pieced and hand quilted. The quilting is in a Baptist Fan pattern; I used a saucer as my curve template and used the old fashioned way of marking quilts using a sliver of Dove soap. Using soap slivers is a great way to mark your dark colored fabrics and the quilt smells super clean!
I chose the Baptist Fan quilting to be a counterpoint to the rectangles and squares and I think the quilting gives motion to the quilt. This was my first project for hand quilting and this quilt took roughly 30 hours to complete.
